2-Day Class for the Beginner --Oil

"Plein Air Painting for the Absolute Beginner”

Join me for a 2-day class for adults, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21-22, from 10 am - 1 pm.  Learning tips and tricks for getting outside and capturing a scene outdoors in oil. See what the excitement is all about in plein air!

If you have never tried “painting out”, this will be a gentle introduction.  Some familiarity with painting is helpful.  

Come to Learn:

• what to wear/take on your plein air adventure
• how to get outside and paint a simple scene in oil, and enjoy being part of nature,
• how to use a viewfinder and simple design tricks
• how to make a thumbnail drawing and three-value study
• how to mix color using a limited oil palette.

Group will meet at a pre-arranged location in Southbury.  Participants must be able to walk and carry gear over uneven terrain.  If you have a portable easel please bring it. Wear old clothes and bring a folding chair, water, snack. Classes will be rescheduled if rain cancels. Most supplies included.
