Admonishing artists to "paint ahead" for UCC Holiday Fair 2016, I decided to take my own advice, and select a still life object that had something to do with the holidays, and paint it. Still life painting is great. No need to "chase the light" as in outdoor painting, where the sun is always moving around quickly. No need to give "the model" breaks. It doesn't go anywhere. It can be left for days, and returned to over and over again. So I have 11 months to complete it! The next Holiday Fair, "Small Treasures" show will be November 19th at UCC Southbury. Twenty + artists will be again displaying their work for sale to benefit outreach and programs of the church.
Paintings photograph differently in different light, but your feedback is welcome.
