David Boyd in front of "Alta Tractor", 48" x 60" Oil on Canvas, $4,000 |
They have roamed far and wide this year, visiting St. Simons, GA, "The Forgotten Coast" of Florida, Key West FL, Red Rocks AZ, among many locations, and around the backyards and green pastures of Newnan. Boyd has sought out and captured the perfect remnants of days gone by when agriculture was all in America. He has painted diverse subjects in graphic renditions of the symbols of our Southern youth--Moon Pies, Pepsi Cola, baseballs /gloves to name a few. His plein air landscapes of barns, sheds, and magnificent spreading live oaks do not lack for well thought out composition and atmosphere. No wonder his painting was selected for the juried American Impressionist Society show and he is a winner at the plein air competitions. Look for a huge (6 feet by 8 feet) painting that will soon grace the Newnan Centre's new neighboring addition when it is completed later this year.
