About

Ellie Boyd, an award winning oil painter, trained in the classical atelier style of painting.  She works in traditional genres of portrait, still life, and landscape in her Connecticut studio and enjoys painting outside "en plein air."

“Art has always been a big part of my life.  In the South, where I grew up, family heritage was an important aspect of family life.  As a child, my portrait was painted by Julian Lamar, an established Atlanta painter, and I was immediately hooked on the process and the result -- a family heirloom.   In my own work, I strive to take a portrait or landscape into the realm of a treasured painting.”

Ellie studied studio art in the South and abroad, then later in the Midwest prior to moving to New England in 1993 with her husband and two sons, to study in New York with Laurel Boeck.  Ellie is the founder of Pomperaug Outdoor Painters,  a member of the Portrait Society of America, the CT Society of Portrait Artists, and the CT Plein Air Painters Society.  She also represents regional portrait artists via a collaborative agency, Enduring Portraits

Ms. Boyd is available for commissions of portraits, landscapes, and still lifes.  Visit her website or contact her by email or telephone.
